In Remembrance

Shortly after 6 PM tonight we said goodbye to our 9-year-old cat, Desi. It was a bit of a sad surprise, but on the bright side, he did not seem to suffer. We will miss him, as he has been a member of the family for longer than I have.

Kelly and Daddy

I tried my hand with the camera today (well, snapped a couple pictures -- I didn't do anything fancy!) to get a picture of Kelly and her daddy on our way out the door.

Headshots

So the new camera is already paying off. I think that these pictures are just as good as a professional photographer would get. Then again, the setting would be a little nicer, but that's okay...

Sorry if they're a little redundant, but a certain gramma has said that you can never have too many pictures on the blog...

PWSPCA Fall Festival

Today we found out the local SPCA's Fall Festival was going on and we decided to head over. Fortunately, we were there in time to compete in the Largest Dog contest. Logan won for the second year in a row.

Kelly liked seeing all the dogs, but her favorite part was the moonbounce.

Despite our spur of the moment decision to attend, we were still able to get our friends Tim, Lisa, Ryan, and their dog Iggy to join us at the event. Kelly and Ryan had a bout of some rough hugging:

Battle stances...

Going in for the first hug...

And they're down!

Fortunately both shook it off and were up for another go...

The second hug didn't end as well. Ryan took Kelly down again, this time straight backwards. This is a shot of them going down.

Kelly shed a few tears, but then she was fine. Visit here for more great action shots that Tim took of the skirmish!

Kayla's Driveway

We've been enjoying the nice weather in the evenings over in our neighbor Kayla's driveway lately.

Trying out Kayla's tricycle. She's a little too small to use it, but it's fun to climb on.

Kelly found her favorite toy of Kayla's (she hadn't seen it in a long time), this Elmo's World piano. Kelly calls him "El-no."

She really loves that thing!

Break In/New Toy

After about a year, Kelly finally eluded my masterful baby-proofing of our end table drawer. Yes, it was just sealed with Scotch tape, but hey, it worked for a year! Anyway, she had fun pealing off the tape and playing with it. Her daddy must have told her to throw it away because hours later I noticed her bringing more tape bits over to the kitchen trash and discarding them.

Check out all these teeth -- we're up to 16 now!! All that's left is the second year molars (which I think we probably won't see for a little while), then she'll be all set with baby teeth!

We got a toy electric mixer. I figured the timing was perfect since I'll be pulling mine out this week to make James' birthday cupcakes!

Playing Outside

Thoroughly enjoying his new camera, Kelly's dad has been taking hundreds of pictures a day. Here are our favorites from today.

Looking over at the TV...

Carrying crab apples that she plucked from the tree.
Funny looks at each other...

Checking out a helicopter flying overhead.

Bach-toberfest!

We spent yesterday at a friend's annual "Bach-toberfest," enjoying the gorgeous fall weather.

Hanging out with Isa as she enjoys an ice cream cone cupcake.

I think Kelly was trying to get her to eat something a little healthier.

She loved my peach Fresca. "MMMmmm"

Isa took Kelly over to play with the other kids.

Kelly loved the toy kitchen....

...and, of course, the sandbox...

Good times with the big kids.

She wore herself out climbing up onto a slide (over and over again!)...

Hanging out on top and surveying the scene...

At the bottom, ready for another go!

Kelly and Grampa

Daddy got an early birthday present from my parents -- a fancy new camera. As you can see from this photo with Grampa, there's a big improvement.

Look at all this hair! It can be hard to tackle sometimes.
