Kelly's Birthday Party

On Saturday we threw Kelly her first birthday party. It was pretty stressful for Mommy and Daddy, but overall I think that everyone had a nice time and it was truly worth it. My only regret is that we didn't invite all of the babies that I would have liked to because we were concerned about space and the hospitableness of our pet-filled home. Turns out that we would have probably been fine. Greetings at the beginning of the party. That's Keri, Luis, and his daughter Isa with Logan. This picture is cool because Kelly and Grandma are in it too (actually Grandma's first appearance on the blog!).

The four babies that attended the party: Kelly, Ryan, Charlotte, and Kayla.

The birthday girl. She was still a little off from her 4 shots the day before at her 1 year checkup.

Attempting to pose with the balloons. Kelly told me "Its my party and I'll cry if I want to."

A bit overwhelmed by everyone singing and the cake/candle.

Actually the first time Kelly ever fed herself with a fork.

It's much easier to just eat it with your hands.

1 Year Stats

At Kelly's 1 year checkup, she weighed 19 lbs. 9 oz. and was 27 inches long. She is now just about 25th percentile for height and weight. She's becoming quite the petite little thing. Maybe thats because she thinks things like soccer balls are good to eat.

Happy 1st Birthday!

I can't believe my little baby girl is 1 year old! This will probably be my first of several birthday-related posts. I thought it would be fun to start with a couple of pictures for comparison: Kelly's dad and me when we were only 1 year old. You can see where Kelly got her hair and eyebrows, among other things... I guess the double chin could have come from either of us.

Kelly's Big Day (January 24, 2008)

Kelly will have to wait a couple of days for her party, but she got some presents and went to Gymboree (where they sang Happy Birthday). Below are a whole bunch of photos from Kelly's big day.

Enjoying her new music table.

Conversing with Alina (14 months) at Gymboree.

Climbing up lots of different things.

The top of Kelly's head is missing... but she has a bubble sitting on her nose!
Finally, watching all the bubbles.... that's Colin (11-1/2 months) in back.

Visiting Daddy

Since I had the day off today (yay!), I took Kelly up to visit Daddy and all of his coworkers.
Daddy's friend Luis' daughter Isa was there too. They played together with the toys in Daddy's office.
Isa will be seven on Valentine's Day.

Kelly has mastered not quite walking. She has perfected pulling up on everything, cruising, and crawling. Soon...!

First Steps

Kelly took her first steps today while I was on my way home from work. Daddy called me to tell me about it. He said she took 2 or 3 very deliberate, balanced steps. I'm not surprised since he got the first smile too (she still gives him good ones, as seen above). Hopefully within a couple of days I'll get to see some walking!

She's also getting her top two front teeth and will point out the dogs and cats on request.

January Bode Babies Group

Yesterday Kelly and I went to a play group at Elizabeth and Charlotte's house. While I was lazy and didn't even pull out the camera (which I did bring! :-P), Elizabeth did a great job with hers. You can see more pics over at Nugget's Nursery. Much thanks to our excellent hostesses for the picture, lunch, and a lovely time!

Daddy's Favorite

Kelly's dad asked me to post this one because he really likes it. I think she's always cute, but I have to say I think she looks a little sad. Still cute nonetheless. :)

Spring in January

We decided to take advantage of the nice weather by touring the neighborhood in Kelly's new stroller. We got it for Christmas from Daddy's parents.

Kelly in her characteristic pointing pose. She likes to point at everything!

Sunday Morning

Today Gramma Dot and Grandpa came over to take us out to breakfast. Kelly had a great time, as usual.
Kelly looking cute with her Gramma.

"Gramma, why'd you put this book on my head?"

Kelly petting Jake. He escaped shortly after...
Desi generally knows better -- you can see him sneaking by to avoid a similar fate.

Gymboree with Kayla

Our neighbors, Pao, April, and Kayla, finally decided to try out Gymboree. We all went there on Saturday for the Level 3 class. Daddy was crazy enough to take over a hundred pictures! These are some of the good ones.

Climbing down a ramp.

Playing with balls on the bridge. Kayla the daredevil wanted to crawl over the edge!

Climbing up the "rock wall."

Stair Climbing

About a week and a half ago, Kelly amazed us with her stair climbing skills. Daddy was kind enough to finally put up a gate at the bottom of the stairs so she can't do it when we're not right there. Yesterday she did it a couple of times with me following her up.

Kelly's Mom ~ 18 Months

It's baby Courteney all over again. The hair, the cheeks, the big green eyes, the smile, the body .....
