Kelly's New 'Do

We decided that it was time to cut Kelly's hair... I was planning on a trim to clean it up, but when I suggested she get a short haircut she jumped at the idea. She was really excited and even walked into the Hair Cuttery saying "I want a haircut like Charlotte!" to anyone who would listen.

Just Lying Around

Daddy captured a few pictures of our silly girls this weekend just lying around on the floor...

EleFun with Alyssa

Saturday we took out a game that Kelly got for her birthday, Elefun, for her to play... turns out most of the fun was playing with the nets with Alyssa!

Rocknoceros Groupies

This weekend we went to the Prince William County Kids Expo at the County Fairgrounds to see our favorite kids band, Rocknoceros.  There we met up with the family of one of daddy's coworkers and were thrilled to find that not only do they love Rocknoceros too, but their 3-year-old, Julia, is on a first name basis with the band.  Kelly and Julia had a wonderful time priming the dance floor.

Checking out the real fun -- the bungie bouncing.

Leaps and Bounds

In the past week, Kelly has made several huge developmental strides.  The first was last Friday when she decided that she was ready to finish with toilet training.  Without getting into the details, I will say this has been a massive issue (I won't say battle because we REALLY tried not to push!) for us that has been going on since last Fall.  Needless to say, this is an incredible relief for me.  Of course, as soon as she did it the first time, she's done it every day.  She just needed to get over the first-time hurdle.

Another surprise accomplishment for Kelly that I didn't expect is that she decided she was ready to sleep in her room by herself.  She has always coslept with me and while I have felt for a little while that she was ready to move to her own room, I wasn't going to push that until the toilet training situation was resolved.  One change at a time was what I figured.  Amazingly, Kelly made the choice completely on her own right after she decided she was ready to finish toilet training.

Finally, a fun new skill that Kelly demonstrated is swinging (and pumping) on a "big kid" swing.  She had done it a bit before, but when we were at the playground this week she really had it down.  I'm so impressed by how much she's grown up just in the past week!!

Some pictures from that day at the Marine Corps Museum playground (thanks Staci!):

Everyone on the swings.

Alyssa swinging with her friend, also named Alyssa (about 20 months old; one year older than our Alyssa).

Alyssa had her own accomplishments this week, eating more and more solids (and successfully feeding herself some of them!) and learning how to drink from a straw. I'm so proud of my girls!!!

Soccer Game

Sunday we enjoyed the gorgeous weather at Isa's soccer game. At a local park that I had never even been to, I was very impressed by the impeccable turf. I'm looking forward to watching Kelly (and perhaps Alyssa) play there someday...

Easter in Sterling

This year, as usual, we went up to visit Daddy's family in Sterling. Kelly got to do all sorts of fun Easter activities and we celebrated Uncle Joe and Uncle Marsh's birthdays.

First Kelly made everyone some cookies.

Alyssa and I enjoyed watching.

Then she made Easter visors.

Then she got to hunt for Easter eggs.

Again, Alyssa enjoyed watching, both from the grass...

...and the picnic table.

Finally Kelly got to try out her new bike (Uncle Joe helped)...

...and take her car for a spin.
